Subscribing to the Auto-Updating Release Calendar – It’s Free!
PS4/XBox One Calendars are now available!
INFO: Our US calendars are currently experiencing some difficulties. We’ll hopefully resolve these soon.
You know what it’s like, browsing your local games shop trying to decide what to spend your hard earned cash on. Every now and then there’s something in the back of your mind insisting you should hold on for another week in case something else crops up, so you head home empty handed only to find the game you’re waiting for has been delayed by a few months. Damn.
Well, worry no more. With The Gaming Review’s exclusive release calendar you can carry an up to date, automatically updated release calendar with you wherever you go. As long as you’ve got an iPhone, iPad or Android device you can just whip your gadget out and quickly check any confirmed EU PS3, 360, PS4 or One release dates.
Not only that, but you can set this up on your desktop computer as well. Using Outlook 2007 or 2010, iCal on OSX or Google Calendars you can be sat at your desk with instant access to our up to date release dates. Once you’ve set it up (which takes seconds) that’s all you’ll ever need to do; the calendar will update itself regularly with newly announced release dates as well as correcting any dates that have been brought forward or delayed.
You won’t find this on any other gaming site – this really is the only place you can subscribe to a regularly updated calendar of current and next-gen updates. So how do you get it set up? It’s very very easy, just follow the steps for the relevant bit of kit you’d like to use it on. Don’t forget you can easily subscribe to multiple release calendars, just repeat the instructions for each calendar.
iPhone or iPad
Easy one this – just browse to this page using Safari on your device and click the relevant PS3 or 360 image below. You’ll be asked if you want to subscribe; once you’ve picked the Subscribe option you’re done. Your calendar app will be full of upcoming releases for your choice of formats and will refresh itself at regular intervals without you having to do anything.
Outlook or iCal
Whether you’re on a PC or Mac you can set up the calendar in either of these programs easily. Again, open this page in your browser and click on the link below depending on which calendar you want. The relevant software should load and ask you to confirm a few settings. The defaults are normally fine – once you’ve confirmed the settings the calendar should be imported and be ready to use.
Thunderbird
Mozilla’s free email software has a host of add-ons, including the fairly brilliant Lightning which brings calendar functionality. Not only that, once you’ve installed Lightning (from here) you can set up a new calendar and follow the iCal wizard to subscribe to the calendars.
Google Calendar (for use with Android or web browsers)
When setting this up with Google Calendar there are a few more steps but it’s still nice and easy. Make sure you are logged into your Google Calendar (https://www.google.com/calendar/) and look for a section on the left called “Other calendars” – Click the Add link and choose Add by URL. Copy the address of the calendar you’d like to use (they’re next to the images below) and click Add Calendar. Everything will be imported and, again, keep itself up to date.
This is a new and exciting development for us and something we’ll be adding to and improving over time. If you’ve got any comments, problems, suggestions or questions then please either contact us using the option on the top menu or leave us a comment on this page. And obviously, if you know someone who might benefit from this then pass it on, you never know when it might come in handy!
Europe Release Calendars
That’s very cool. Signed up to the PS3 calender, going to use that a lot. Thanks!
Very nice, great idea 😀
Top stuff PM. Liking the console specific calendar and I reckon the site will get a lot of hits for this function. Thanks very much.
Need a combined one. When you add both (I have both systems) it gets too cluttered with duplicates.
We’ll look into that, thanks for the feedback 🙂
How do I get it to show up on my android based calendar and not just on the web based calendar?
Have a look here… http://bit.ly/lyFSQK
This is nice, but could you make it all-day-events instead of 8-hour-events? Thats kinda annoying cause it fills up a lot of space in certain views.
All day events also have a similar effect, I’ll look into shortening it to a single hour. The time isn’t really important after all.
Why do they all show up on Friday instead of Tuesday. It shows LA Noire as 20th instead of 17th. Why so?
These are EU release dates- America is getting LA Noire a few days earlier.
Can we get an American calendar too?
but then you wouldn’t get to use this awesome minimalist release calendar

This is great, agree with the comment above about the length of the events but this will come in really handy. Thanks!
Awesome idea 🙂
Also works on Mozilla Thunderbird – better than Outlook and free as can be.
Oh really? That’s great, I’ll add that to the guide. Thanks 🙂
Excellent idea – and now neatly installed on my phone!
Would love to see a US version. This is awesome. Been trying to keep my calendar up-to-date by myself but do not have enough time.
Those of you after a US calendar, I’ll look into it. Our priority is to get the EU version up and running then we’ll consider other options!
Iain, can you set up the calendar so that it will delete any calendar events that are over 1 week old. There are loads of past games from 1 April in my database, and I can not delete these myself.
Thanks.
Great work! Just want to throw another “US please!” plead into the pile.
Would donations motivate? 😉
Just subscribed to both in Google calendar. I noticed that the PS3 calendar has entries, but the Xbox 360 calendar doesn’t?
Yeah had a few issues with the 360 one lately, it’ll be back in the next week or two 🙂
Any word on a US version of this? This is awesome by the way.
psn games are included? Thx!
Truly when someone doesn’t know then its up to other visitors that they will help, so here it takes place.
Will you guys be doing a PS4/Xbox One release calendar?
Definitely – keep an eye out closer to release. We’ll announce it on Facebook and Twitter too, so make sure you’re following us to find out first!
