Happy new year everyone! Hopefully yours has been better than mine, 3 days in and 3 days with the flu. Let’s hope 2019 picks up. At least the lineup of games for the first month is decent:
Steep (PS4) – Ubisoft’s open world extreme sport game, Steep does a good job of capturing the fun of snowboarding and skiing, even if not all of the sport types are as good as the others.
Portal Knights (PS4) – co-op RPG with building mechanics (and look) heavily borrowed from Minecraft.
Zone of the Enders HD Collection (PS3) – classic giant robot action, itself a HD remaster.
Amplitude (PS3 & PS4) – quality rhythm action game, having to hit the right beats on the right track with your spaceship.
Fallen Legion (Vita/PS4) – action RPG with a cool looking animated art style.
Super Mutant Alien Assault (Vita) – a fast paced platform shooter.
Celeste (Xbox One) – January 1 – 31 – regarded as a classic in 2018, Celeste is a universally praised tight precision platformer.
WRC 6 (Xbox One) – January 16 – February 15 – the 6th iteration of the popular (if never quite ‘nailing it’) rally series.
Never Alone (Xbox One) – December 16 – January 15 – a lovely puzzle platformer about a young girl and her Arctic Fox friend.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (Xbox 360) – January 1 – 15 – Lara Croft delves into isometric co-op action in what is a surprisingly good affair.
