The News Review: Edition 30

Following a hefty hiatus, The Gaming Review’s weekly News Review is back. Here you’ll be able to quickly see all the latest important happenings in the world of gaming over the past 7 days:

  • Gabe Newell, head of Valve, is set to be added as a boss in dungeon crawler Crawl, with developer Barry Cumming hoping Newell will be included in the next update.
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate’s April DLC pack let’s you dress up your Palico as Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • SMITE has added to it’s roster in the latest patch update, including Medusa in it’s range of gods and demi-gods. She’s classed as a hunter, and as well as her ranged bow attacks her ultimate deals damage and turns enemies looking at her to stone.
  • PayDay developer Overkill have stated that they are not worried about the stiff competition from Grand Theft Auto V and Battlefield Hardline, as they’re set to release PayDay 2: Crimewave Edition this June.
  • Some ArmA 3 mod teams have combined to create another mod, called ACE3. The mod will implement new mechanics in order to make the game even more realistic, with G-forces, weapon heating and combat deafness simulation all being added.
  • The first patch for Battlefield Hardline will see ‘The American Dream’, the game’s drivable couch, will be nerfed, with health and repair rate being significantly lower.
  • Microsoft has announced that the release date for Quantum Break has been pushed back further until 2016, to avoid the end of 2015, which is crowded with by other Microsoft exclusive titles.
  • Codemaster’s Rally hit DiRT 3 is now available on Steam, with all current DiRT 3 PC owners getting a free upgrade to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition.
  • Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart 8’s Animal Crossing DLC pack will now be available on April 23rd. The pack includes new courses, karts, characters and racing suits.
  • Nintendo have also announced that alongside the DLC, Mario Kart 8 will be getting a free update that adds a 200cc mode, a first for the Mario Kart series.
  • Two new StreetPass games are coming to 3DS on April 16th. Ultimate Angler, a fishing game, and Battleground Z, an action game where your Mii must battle against hordes of zombies.
  • President Satoru Iwata announced at Nintendo Direct that Mewtwo will be the first downloadable character for Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS. Anyone who registered both copies of Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS before March 31st will receive a free download code on April 15th. Everybody else will have to purchase the legendary psychic Pokémon from April 28th.
  • Lucas has also been announced as a DLC character for Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS, with Nintendo planning to release Lucas in June.
  • Sony have announced that Playstation Home has officially shut down, after being online for just over 6 years.
  • Jack Felling, developer for Black Tusk Studios, has said on Twitter that the next Gears of War game will not be available on Xbox 360, but will be released on Xbox One.
  • Sony and Evolution studios have released MotorStorm Buggy DLC for Driveclub.
