With all the lockdown going on, you’d think that there would be a real treat in the form of free games for May (although to be fair, Sony did just give away Uncharted Collection and Journey – remaining available till 5th May). They’re not terrible, but not exactly blockbusters.
V-Rally 4 (Xbox One, May 1-31) – very much a 90s rally game, with enhanced graphics. Light on content and options, V Rally 4 feels more like a copy of the old games than an evolution of.
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr (Xbox One, May 16-June 15) – Diablo-esque shooter set in the Warhammer universe.
Sensible World of Soccer (Xbox 360 & Xbox One, May 1-15) – the remake of the classic SWOS games. It’s a decent job of capturing that classic feel.
Overlord II (Xbox 360 & Xbox One, May 16-31) – sort of like Pikmin except you play an evil overload who commands minions. It’s ‘funny’ – disclaimer, will depend on your sense of humour.
The Uncharted Collection (PS4 until 5th May) – all of the classic Drake games together, remastered for PS4. I think 2 is the best but the others are decent also.
Journey (PS4 until 5th May) – relaxing adventure in a sweeping landscape. A perfect game for this time.
Cities Skylines (PS4) – open world city building at your own pace. It’s a bit like Sim City but with less stress.
Farming Simulator 19 (PS4) – build and do jobs on a farm. At least we can go out virtually this way.
