Happy Christmas to one and all. A mixed bag this holiday season of free games, let’s unwrap them, starting with the offerings on the Xbox consoles for December – is there anything here yo umight like to sink your teeth into, like some kind of vampire? Speaking of which:
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD (Xbox 360 and Xbox One, available December 16 – December 31) – third-person vampire slashing action. The move to 3D really helped cement why this franchise should stay as 2D, but worth a look.
Toy Story 3 (Xbox 360 and Xbox One, available December 1 – December 15) – I mean, it’s a third-person Toy Story game. Loads going on, it’s surprisingly not terrible and a great one for your little ones.
Insane Robots (Xbox One, December 1 – December 31) – a rogue like, turn based strategy game with card battling. Those robots are insane!
Jurassic World Evolution (Xbox One, December 16 – January 15) – real-time theme park strategy but with dinosaurs. Got a bad rep for having a bit of a grind but everyone I know who has got this, loves it so I’m going to check it out.
Monster Energy Supercross (PS4) – off-road supercross racing. Why they changed the handling from last year’s MX GP Pro series I don’t know – sadly this suffers and feels like an inferior product.
Titanfall 2 (PS4) – one of the best single player first-person-shooter campaigns I’ve ever played. Multiplayer is great too, but has suffered from low player numbers. Hopefully being free will give it a boost.
