It’s August which means that the summer gaming lull is fully upon us, although you’d be forgiven for not donning the straw hats and string vests just yet given the amount of releases on the way. Adding to your dilemma is August’s free games:
Trials Fusion (Xbox One, Aug 16th-Sept 15th) – absurdly fun (and hard) platform bike game. Both brilliant and quite stressful, this is worth it.
Slime Rancher (Xbox One, Aug 1st-Aug 31st) – indie life simulation game. Ever wanted to have a slime ranch? Now you can.
Bayonetta (Xbox 360 & Xbox One, Aug 1-Aug 15th) – quirky action hacking and slashing fun with a lady in a catsuit.
Red Faction Armageddon (Xbox 360 & Xbox One, Aug 16th-Aug 31st) – this person shooter in which you blow everything up in an underground complex.
Just Cause 3 (PS4) – open world sandbox explode-em-up Just Cause gets a major sequel with number three.
Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry (PS4) – standalone expansion to (in my opinion) the best Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed IV. Exciting!
Super Motherload (PS3) – explosive puzzler with RPG elements as you venture into space to mine precious materials.
Snakeball (PS3) – a flashy disco variant of the classic Snake game.
Downwell (Vita & PS4) – insane descent into a mine filled with monsters, with a retro flair.
Level 22 (Vita) – Gary oversleeps after a drunken night partying and has to sneak through 22 floors to get back to his desk without being seen.
